India has been 'Modi'fied after the General Elections 2014. After 30 long years since 1984 a single political party i.e the BJP has gained an overall majority crossing 272 on it's own. The incumbent Congress party had to suffer its worst political defeat since independence. This has all happened due to Hard and Smart work of one man and his team: Former Gujarat CM and now the Prime Minister designate Narendra Damodardas Modi. He campaigned in 189 constituencies and won 153 of them. His rise have been historic from a tea seller to the Prime Minister of India. None in the BJP would have accomplished this. Modi is now the new Vajpayee of the BJP. His path to the top job have been through various crests and troughs. He was the most demonized political figure during the 10 year UPA regime. Also he had to fight many within his own party to be declared the PM nominee. But he stood firm with determination and succeeded in getting the support of the people and in the end glory knocked the door.
India may widely change under PM Modi. The scam rotten and paralysed UPA has now been replaced by an enthusiastic and dynamic NDA. There is a huge burden of expectations on his shoulders. With a huge mandate he will not hesitate in making strong decisions. Modi is known for his administrative skills as well. What he did in Gujrat is known to everyone. Also before the swearing-in, there are rumors that he will have only 20-25 ministers as compared to 72 of the UPA regime. As Narendra Modi takes over the reigns of Government it will be interesting to know how he fulfills the promises he made during the campaign .
Impact on Indo-Pak Relations and Foreign Policy:
Indo-Pak relations are once again in spotlight as Modi takes over as Prime Minister. He played a masterstroke by inviting all the heads of Government of SAARC countries. It baffled the Pakistan Govt completely as they didn't knew how to respond. In the end Nawaz Sharif will be attending the Modi swearing-in ceremony. Pak media have presented a negative image of Modi, but it shows how little they know about the Indian Democracy. It can be called a masterstroke because a message has been given from New Delhi that India is back in top gear to play the role of big brother in the Indian subcontinent. Narendra Modi unlike his predecessor is a decisive leader and is expected to take a strong stand. He has already displayed his foreign policy moves. With China he would like to have a better ties as it is interest of the economies of both the nations, but the new Govt will not stay quiet in any way if sovereignty and integrity of India is threatened. In case of USA India will no longer remain a poodle and will do whats for its best interest. So it would be thrilling to see how Modi changes the dynamics of Indian foreign policy
